Many ghosts have been seen at Churston Court by guests and staff alike. The most commonly seen ghosts are that of monks, which appear through walls and then disappear again. There are stories of candles being blown out and lit again seemingly of their own accord. The hotel is also the meeting area for the Torbay Investigators of the Paranormal, who have met at the hotel regularly on a Monday night for the last ten years. The group describes the hotel as “atmospherically haunted” and they are happy to offer ghost tours to members of the public.
