GHOST HUNT AT NEW BRIGHTON’S SECRET WW2 TUNNELS
Join Haunted Rooms for a chilling night of real ghost hunting at one of the most secretive and haunting spots in the North West!!
With such a long and colourful history surrounding this place, it’s no surprise that there are numerous reports of ghosts.
Going back 200+ years, the dead bodies from the Pelican which sank on the River Mersey in 1793, were supposedly transported to the tunnels before the ship was plundered by local smugglers. Their spirits condemned to haunt the tunnels forever.
During WW2 the tunnels were used as war rooms and a munitions factory, which gave work to over 200 women, it also became a base for fire watchers, as well as a public air-raid shelter. Many of the machinery and equipment used during this secretive time is still residing deep in the darkness in these tunnels.
Walking the dark tunnels you may come face to face with the Grey Lady, whose known to appear to anyone who dares come close!
Objects are thrown and bangs are heard from what is supposedly an old angry smuggler searching for his loot.
More recently a worker was carrying out some maintenance work and was in need of a hammer…Asking his colleague to pass it to him, he reached out his hand and felt the hammer being placed in his hand. Shortly after his workmate returned to the area with no recollection of what had just happened!
What to Expect from the Ghost Hunt
Our event starts at 9.00 pm but you can arrive at 8.00 pm. Events normally end around 2 am.
The Secret Munitions Tunnels and disused Air Raid Shelter will be open to you. Ghost Hunters will also have the opportunity to see the Top Secret Munitions Room, which was kept from public view until recently and was used during WWII.
You will have the chance to look around the space before the event to familiarise yourself with its layout. Shortly before the event kicks off, we’ll run you through a quick induction and safety briefing, followed by a short talk and introduction from our team. You’ll then split into smaller groups with your family and/or friends if you’ve come together, and we’ll begin our vigils for the night!
If you have your own paranormal equipment we encourage you to bring it, if not we can provide them free of charge. Snacks, refreshments, and treats will be provided at intervals throughout the night, and we’ll have facilities to make hot and cold drinks too.
We do have mediums and sensitives with us for every event. Anybody that has sensitive abilities we encourage you to come forward, as it only increases the energy and enjoyment for all in attendance.
To get the most from the evening we encourage you to try your hand at as many things as you can, and if you’re feeling particularly brave you should give our Ouija boards a try, as well as joining in with our table tipping experiments as we try to commune with the spirits and ghosts of the New Brighton WW2 Tunnels.
For those who are that touch braver than the average soul, you’ll also have the chance to do some lone vigils in the most haunted spaces!
