Get ready for an intense night of ghost hunting at the Abandoned Park Hotel in Morecambe with optional sleepover for the very brave.

As you walk towards this huge building it feels as if you are being watched from every window. The majestic hotel is still impressive even if it is no longer in its original magnificent state.

Your ghost hunt at The Abandoned Park Hotel will see you exploring all areas of the building made available to us, where you will be able to experience glass divination, table tipping and a group human pendulum experiment. Plus, for those comfortable enough – Ouija boards will also be on hand for you to use – all to aid your communication with the dead. Also, you will have a whole host of the most up-to-date ghost hunting gadgets to use whilst you carry out your ghost hunt. Taking part in spirit call-outs and wait to see what happens in the silence that follows. Our guests like to work in small teams to give you the very best experience possible. For the very brave lone vigils (ghost hunting in a room all alone) are very popular and plenty of opportunities to do so will be given.

Pick a spot to bed down for the night. the first floor and second floors are still furnished and carpeted – rooms here look just how they were left when the hotel closed its doors. Ascending to the third floor and the hotel’s appearance suddenly changes and takes on a more sinister feel; the bedrooms on this floor are empty, bare and derelict. Then there’s the vast cellar and servant’s area – sleep here at your own risk!

Please note:

  • This location is suitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility issues

The Ghosts

The local community believe that this is one of the most haunted places in Morecambe and as you step inside you can understand why. Old reception rooms stand in a state of disrepair, there are stairs that lead to nowhere, countless bedrooms hoping to be brought back to life, an old library that longs for readers to open its books again and in the stunning observatory you can still see the marks of where it was once struck by lightning.

Not only do you have all these rooms, but there are also the cellars which housed the servant’s kitchen and a grand ballroom. The Ghosts who are said to reside within this former hotel’s walls have been reported for many years, with many of the hotels occupants leaving early and refusing to stay the night.

A sinister Male has been accounted to roam the corridors and public spaces and is known to make his frustration known if he hears too much noise, another spirit is known to make themselves known on the stairs, giving you a helping hand down in the form of a push! We recommend you use the handrails when visiting this location.

Female cries and whimpers have been heard in the dead of night – as well as children’s laughter echoing throughout the cellar. Whistles, cold spots, feelings of being watched and touched. This location will make for a terrifying sleepover experience.

Brief History

As with all British Seaside Resorts, Morecambe like many became a popular Victorian holiday destination, especially since it became connected to many Northern cities by a railway line. The Park Hotel is believed to have begun construction around 1870 to become one of many hotels catering to this Victorian crowd. As package holidays abroad become more affordable in the 1960/70’s – Morecambe began its decline and the hotel finally closed its doors as demand fell severely.
