Built in 1838 St Catherine’s Hospital is a former mental healthcare hospital located three miles from the centre of Doncaster, South Yorkshire.
Originally known as St Catherine’s Hall, St Catherine’s was built as the home for the Banks family. The family sold it for a little over £25,000 to the Ministry of Health in 1930 when it was turned into a ‘mental institution’.
Some of the hospitals patients would of spent their days in bed , no contact from the outside world- only the voice of the radio , no activities or games. They were dressed in white open backed shirts and lived on Porridge, Eggs, Potatoes, Bread and Milk.
This venue is reputedly haunted by many restless souls. Disturbing, loud screams have been heard throughout the house , ghostly soldiers have been seen, along with a grey lady wandering on the staircase.
