Your Ghost Hunt at Llancaiach Fawr Manor

Join Haunted Rooms for a thrilling night of real paranormal investigating at one of the most haunted houses in Wales

Do you have what it takes to investigate this ancient manor house, in the dead of night? A location where the apparitions of former servants and past owners make themselves known in frightening circumstances!

A location so ominous, visitors have broken down in tears, running for the exit, swearing never to return…

Llancaiach Fawr Manor Ghost Hunt

Llancaiach Fawr Manor has been named one of the top ten most haunted places in Great Britain. Almost every room in the manor has a spooky story to tell. Many things have been seen, felt and smelled by people who work in the manor, as well as those who came to visit it. Among the odours which permeate the air are lavender, violets and sometimes even roast beef.

The figure frequently experienced in the manor is that of the housekeeper who lived in the 19th century known as “Mattie”. Her dresses had been heard rustling in the room where she is believed to have died tragically many, many years ago.

There is also the ghost of the little boy who fell to his death from one of the windows on the upper floors. He would make his presence felt to visitors and employees by tugging at their sleeves or hair. He would sometimes slip his hands on the person in the room as if beckoning them to take him home.

It is reported that Edward Prichard can also be seen sometimes dressed in his Civil War regalia, contemplating the turmoil and the support of the King. There is also the much talked about the puzzle of the carved stone hidden within the Manor wall. There is so much controversy about why it was put there.  Some people say it is there to help ward off evil, but others say it is a curse on the Manor.

Is Llancaiach Fawr Manor haunted? This is the question that most people ask, especially when thinking of going to the premises. The resounding answer is YES.

Previous residents, staff and several visitors can all testify to the paranormal events and occurrences in the house. Various television crews have come to the manor to film strange occurrences, and some of them are TV’s Most Haunted and BBC Ghostcam. The South Wales Paranormal Group has also reported various sounds, smells and sights in the manor.

Spots will fill up quickly for this one, so hurry and book now!

Built circa 1550 by the Prichard family, the house has 17th-century modifications and was built on the site of a medieval dwelling. With walls, 1.2 meters thick and access between floors only through stairs built inside the walls, the house’s primary purpose was protection and defence. If attacked, the entire house could be divided into two, and only people in the secure east wing would be able to access the tower’s toilet.

The Prichard family restored and improved the house as they lived in it. Some improvements were necessary; however, some of them were for the family to demonstrate to others just how affluent they were.

Among the many things added were the Grand Staircase and panelling in the house’s two rooms. Numerous intramural staircases were also sealed off, and a formal garden was laid out. Because of the many modifications in the house, there are more windows visible outside than inside.

The house has now been restored to its 1645 appearance during the British Civil War. It has become one of the leading sites for people who want to see a piece of living history.

Although snacks and drinks are provided, you’re welcome to bring your own. There are also facilities to make both hot and cold drinks, which are provided also.

And of course, bring your phone/camera with you, the more pictures we have the better chance we have of capturing something!

Other than that, just yourself and an open mind!

On your ghost hunt with Haunted Rooms, you will have full exclusive access to this location. Together with our friendly team of investigators you will join others on structured vigils, where you’ll have the chance to use some paranormal equipment and join in on group vigils such as Ouija board sessions, and seance.

Our event starts at 8.00 pm but you can arrive at the earliest 7.30 pm. Structured investigations will end around 12 am, at which point you will have the opportunity to investigate this location on your own using the techniques and information you have been provided with.

The event is not a sleepover, so it’s recommended you book accommodation nearby if you’re travelling from further away. There are a number of good options for you to choose from.

You will have the chance to look around the manor before the event to familiarise yourself with its layout. Shortly before the event kicks off, we’ll run you through a quick induction and safety briefing, followed by a short talk and introduction from our team. You’ll then split into smaller groups with your family and/or friends if you’ve come together, and we’ll begin our vigils for the night!

If you have your own paranormal equipment we encourage you to bring it, if not we can provide them free of charge. Snacks, refreshments, and treats will be provided at intervals throughout the night, and we’ll have facilities to make hot and cold drinks too.

We do endeavour to have mediums and sensitives with us for every event, although circumstances out of our control can sometimes prevent this. Anybody that has sensitive abilities we encourage you to come forward, as it only increases the energy and enjoyment for all in attendance.

To get the most from the evening we encourage you to try your hand at as many things as you can, and if you’re feeling particularly brave you should give a lone vigil a try, as well as joining in with our table tipping experiments as we try to commune with the spirits and ghosts of the building.

Please dress weather appropriately, with extra layers of clothing if it’s cold, plus comfortable shoes and a torch if you need one.
