Come and join us at the Heugh Gun Battery, Hartlepool
This one is a night of many parts!
We have Ralph Keeton, TV medium and also a Director of the Heugh Gun Battery, joining us throughout the night!
As well as Ralph leading us in a Ghost Walk around the extremely haunted Headland, he is also bringing along some of his haunted artefacts for us to get up close to!
All that, and a Ghost Hunt too…
The gun battery is reportedly haunted with numerous accounts of apparitions being seen, voices heard and objects being thrown throughout the site
The Heugh Battery was first conceived in the wake of the Napoleonic Wars to protect the important port and ship building centre of Hartlepool from attack by sea. In 1859 a more substantial battery was constructed, which required the sealing of ancient caves in the cliffs below the site. What tales those caves could tell, of times gone by!
The 19th century coastal defence battery has its own unique history too. This battery is the only one to have seen ship to shore combat during the first world war. Will we meet the spirits of those who lost there lives during the bombardments, or maybe the brave men who were stationed here, defending our coastline?
The original barrack room, underground magazines, coastal artillery stations, and observation tower are all still standing, and we will spend time investigating each of them
