Come and join us for the ultimate ghost hunting event and sleepover at one of the most haunted castles in the UK . St Briavel’s was an important royal castle on the frontier with Wales and the administrative and judicial centre of the Forest of Dean. Built in the early 12th century, it was the residence of the warden of the Forest of Dean … a royal hunting ground where the game was protected and the king alone allowed to hunt. The castle was also once a prison, it is now a youth hostel and visitors sleep in the gatehouse prison.
There are many hauntings reported at the Castle, King John’s Bedroom is believed to be home to one of the castle’s most famous ghosts. In the Hanging Room visitors frequently experience the horrible sensation of being gripped around the throat and visitors to the Oubliette room have felt their clothes being tugged. Sleeping guests have been known to fled in the middle of the night unable to stand being in the castle a second longer! Other spirits that hover around at the castle include a black dog, a grey lady who is seen along the top corridor and also a knight in tatty armour who has been seen floating around the grounds. What ghost will you find? You will have the opportunity to investigate all parts of the castle.
